On 20 Feb, the University held a farewell luncheon for Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, OUM’s former Chairman of the Board of Governors. In his more than 15 years of service, he had been very helpful in promoting lifelong learning, OUM President/Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Ahmad Izanee Awang noted. He also commended Tan Sri Lee on being a keen social activist, especially on safety issues.
In his farewell speech, Tan Sri Lee praised OUM for enabling Malaysians who couldn’t further their studies earlier to do so.
A former four-term member of parliament, he continued to soldier on in serving the people and the nation. Focusing on community service, he has been active in numerous NGOs and foundations.
As his tenure at OUM ended last December, Tan Sri Lee leaves behind a legacy of embracing the true spirit of humanity.
